We’re taking a big step forward in moving towards high quality AI generated video with Midjourney 5.1. Let me invite you on a journey with Midjourney…

Here, I kept using the 2x zoom out feature in a market scene for nine times until the image seemed to go somewhere new altogether. The image started to lose coherence.

What was interesting is that as we zoom out, it actually seems like we’re walking backwards into a market, with the sun setting in the background and the moonrise occuring. We actually don’t zoom out but advance forward.

I tried the same zoom out technique using version 5, which seemed to perform better in generated a wimmelbook style.

In this instance, the wimmelbook style dissipates as we zoom out. Nonetheless, it still captures an interesting view and proper zoom out of a busy market.

Since zoom can be customized, it’s possible to change the movement between frames. We can allow for some story telling and panning of the image. This may allow for some interesting shots, like the beginning of Citizen Kane.

It’s still early for this technology but we’re likely to see it turn into something easily usable for generating video content within a few months.
