Will Smith Eats Spaghetti!
If you ever think you’re stuck in a simulation made with today’s technology, ask the people around you to eat.
Two years ago, a meme broke free of a video of Will Smith eating a bowl of spaghetti that was generated using the best in class generative AI of the time. It was a horrible, nightmarish mess. I wrote about it last year. The technology was still advancing.
Recently, with the release of Google Veo 3 and other video tools, we’re moving slowly out of Uncanny Valley territory. Just take a look:
2023:
2025:
And now almost anyone has access. Here are few examples I put together with Runway, Sora, and Veo:
Runway:
Sora:
Veo:
Veo took the cake for sure, producing audio along with the video. Veo just took the lead in making it so easy to produce hyper realistic video clips that they are convincingly authentic.
I’ve created several clips with Veo, burning through my monthly allotment in about 10 minutes. These videos easily convince me of being real. The nightmarish elements are non-existent. Except they’re a little too perfect.
Maybe perfection is the next test of whether we’re in a simulation. Nothing is every this good.
