“Who Does #2 Work For?”

This evening, doling out “one last song” before bedtime, my command of an Alexa device was challenged. My daughter was able to ask for the song after the “one more time” challenge. Hmm… how do I handle this?

There was a lot of explaining and minor tantrums about how bed time and sleep are important. Then there was a quiet muting of the device’s microphone to prevent a similar re-triggering.

If we have an Alexa in our home, should we have a single dedicated owner? Should Alexa learn when kids are interacting with it and go into some lockdown? Since voice interactions are much more personal than using a TV remote, we’re still early in figuring out how to properly implement rules.
