Typing in BIG
Ever since taking on the challenge of the tomato timer, I’ve been looking for ways to keep me focused on one task at a time. I try to use my obsession with collecting points to keep me focused. Can I outdo myself this month?
Admittedly, some tomatoes are purer than others. There are some tasks that I can do while listening to music, heck, some even while being on the phone, yet still only be working on one task at a time (I try to avoid phone and tasks as much as possible).
It’s for this reason that I love discovering focus tools that are built in to programs. Word, for example, has a very good Focus tool.
After finally plugging in my Chrome Cast after nearly a year, I was excited to see what I might be able to do with it. One thing that I hadn’t tried before… Casting a single tab.
In this instance, it was the tab with my Medium draft in it. Sure, the text lags behind by about a quarter second, making double deletions an issue and using the curser very difficult, but when I’m in the throes of typing, it words perfectly fine and, in writing this post, kept me in the tab until I finished writing.
Technology has done a good job so far of distracting us and causing lots of angst. It is just as capable at helping us focus and to the things we want to do.
