Today Is Your Day, Amazon

Today’s the big Amazon hardware event. Echo prices have been slashed, I’m sure press releases have been sent out. Marketing and PR are all lined up. Press is looking for leakers so that they can get a scoop.

If you’re a startup, it’s probably not the best day to release your product, especially in hardware. Amazon will own most of the news cycle… for a few days.

Maybe there will be something controversial… an iris scanning Echo? An Echo that reads moods? An Echo that looks around your home for things that you’re missing and automatically orders whatever you need? A room cleaning robot (they own Kiva, after all)? An Alexa truck?

What makes the Amazon event still interesting is that Amazon is willing to play in new form factors. Google comes in far second, Apple way in the back.

I’m hoping this event keeps things that way.
