The Uneven Distribution

I think a lot about the William Gibson quote “The future is already here — it’s just not very evenly distributed.” You get a sense of that when you travel around the world and encounter how different people interact with technology.

Oh, and it’s not one future. In one part of the world, they may be miles ahead in messaging where in another part, it’s ride sharing. Robot hamburger flippers in San Francisco, lab grown meat in Rehovot.

What we’re probably going to see is much faster distribution of the future. Laws and politics will slow down the ripple, but it will be difficult to keep good ideas from flowing through.
