The Two Types of Package Tracking

One is a lot more common than the other.

It’s likely that many more eyes over the next few days are going to be glued to websites that track packages. Those visiting will be unsure of whether the website refreshes in real time so they’ll inevitably be pressing reset over and over again.

There are really two types of package tracking:

  1. The one where you’re shipping or receiving something and care that it gets to its destination.
  2. The other where you’re curious about all the places that the package stops at and wonder what it’s like to be that package.

Those who follow the second might also follow flight trackers of random flights. Which make me think…

There must be an opportunity to present much more of a story around package delivery. What if you could see the package live or photos of it moving through a facility? What if you saw its path on a globe? It seems like a waste that companies are developing in this area.
