The question is whether the uploaded version of ourselves will be ... us. Probably not. However, this question will come long after we've started to augment the brain, where parts of what we're processing will done outside the brain. Much of our existence will be an interpretation of what is happening somewhere else.

Some version of us will then exist outside, even if not every neuron and copied.
