The Missing Areas in Voice Interaction
There are a few things that hopefully will be resolved this year for voice interaction:
- Inconsistent wake word on devices from sleep mode. “OK Google” on Android seems to need to be reset every time there’s a device software update. It’s not reliable to wake the device from sleep with trigger.
- Voice on desktop/laptop. Uggh… still nothing. Where are Alexa and Google Assistant for Chrome or as a standalone app for Windows or Mac? Maybe we a keyboard shortcut or — gafaw! — handsfree mode?
- Cross AI interactions. Google Home and Amazon Echo are just the beginning but their Actions and Skills are a way to unite services across the divide. It’s possible for brands to be consistent despite from where their service is being accessed.
