The Kids Know More

Sitting around today at breakfast, I was surprised by my daughter’s request to open a few Alexa Skills. One of her babysitter’s had been playing with the Skills and she ended up learning how to use a few and grew fond of them.

Ego aside (I was kinda of hoping my daughter’s first words were going to be “OK Ubi”), I am actually happy about this. I think that voice interaction is more engaging and potentially educational than video games. Later that day, she sat and looked at books while listening to a story being told through Spotify.

What amazed me is how quickly kids can grasp new technologies. I’m sure it surprises every parent at one point — it’s just that this was my turn to feel it.
