One gauge I have for how well software is built is how my Macbook reacts to it. Does it cause the fan to spin up and CPU usage to skyrocket? If so, then there’s probably some issue with it.
In 5 years (or with the next version of hardware I use), maybe that device will be able to handle things better. I won’t get that whir and warmth that I get when this computer starts chugging away.
I’ll reminisce about how you could have physical manifestations of performance and whether code was well written. I won’t miss waiting for Finder to load.
