The exercise of quantifying value creation in dollars, especially if done on an annual basis, is more of a vanity metric. Value has been created but the value realized might not come until some time later.
AWS can serve as an example. How much have services like EC2 and Lambdas helped companies grow? Billions if not trillions of dollars worth of services are deployed as a result of these services being available.
Amazon has also innovates in hundreds of areas every year and the value might not be realized for some time. Confining value creation to just how much was doled out or to the increase in market valuation is narrow focused.
Jeff might have sold himself and Amazon shorter through this exercise.
