Someone Has Turned On Live Caption
The message appeared as a notification during a presentation recently, ironically on AI technologies. Someone had turned on live caption which meant that whatever I was saying was being transcribed in real time.
First, umm… thanks for letting me know. I’m not sure why I needed to know in the middle of my presentation but there were probably some reasons given during a customer panel. Second, cool.
Live Caption could be helpful someone who has a hearing impediment. It can also be helpful for those joining late to the presentation to view what was previously spoken. It’s also great that a transcript would be available immediately after the presentation.
We haven’t fully figured out (as a species) on how to use transcription. There are many opportunities where capturing what was said would be helpful and as accuracy improves, we’ll probably see more instances of recording and transcription done live.
