Remaking Home Alone

Finally catching up on my pop culture (I’m six days behind), I watched the Google Home ad showing an adult version of Kevin McAllister if he had a home automation tools. Not knowing what’s happening when you’re away can be solved pretty easily now.

Having the technology available today would have ruined many movies. There are lots of YouTube videos on this:

Heck, even the whole SAW franchise would be different with IoT.

What’s the difference? Telepresence is a commodity, sensor data collection and remote actuation are a commodity. Voice interaction is near commodity.

What I’m thinking about is which movies being made today will seem completely solvable or understandable as a result of tech in 25 years.

Any film with traffic?

Any film with people dying of cancer? Alzheimer’s?

Any film with waiting in line?
