Portless

Apple got a lot of heat for getting rid of the audio jack. Google and Samsung poked fun. But with wireless power charging available on all major phone brands, is it a matter of time before the port, mainly used for charging, disappears?

Maybe.

What still needs to happen is reliability in wireless audio. I can see this happening first with hardware specific audio, like AirPods, Galaxy Buds, and Pixel Buds. However, third party Bluetooth devices might have some issues in reliably connecting for years to come. Maybe Bluetooth 6 could make this a reality?

Wireless power might also need to become more powerful and require a further distance to work. However, it’s manageable as is today. We just need more creative makers of wireless chargers.
