I still remember that ukulele commercial for Google Glass and Sergey Brin talking about how cellphones are emasculating. Google Glass definitely caused a stir and was trying to push the envelope of social norms. In that realm, it was a great invention. It didn’t take off because of many feature bugs, despite early diehards wanting so bad for it to work.

The biggest issue was that the Glass needed to connect with a phone. Eight years later, and we’re still in that issue. Vuzix and North have come out with smart glasses that have Alexa built in but both rely on a phone tether for the device to function. This is a shame.

We have the ability to charge devices wirelessly and have 4G capability. Shouldn’t something like goggles incorporate this? The fact that it has to be tethered to a phone is emasculating.
