New Routines
Google is gearing up for “Routines” to allow multiple actions to occur as a result of a single utterance. We foresaw this in 2013 when we released the Ubi Portal and allowed mapping of multiple actions to a single user command through their Ubi.
The initial concepts behind home automation involve this type of occurrence. A user arrives home, the TV turns on, the doors unlock, music starts playing — a fully automated experience.
We’ll likely see Amazon come up with similar user-developed interactions. Maybe either company will jump start this by acquiring IFTTT or Zapier? It would be interesting if Amazon developed its own home grown version — maybe adding in Amazon purchases?
