We were really excited to see Cirrus Logic come out with its AVS development kit. This kit is the “complete breakfast” in that it has everything included to get up and running with Alexa within minutes (rather than leaving the user to setup AVS on their own Raspi… still an arduous process).

Over the next year, the excuse for not adding voice to a product will move away from cost and complexity to branding. Companies will now start to focus on how to create unique experiences that combine Alexa or Google Assistant (or Bixby or Cortona, or other) with hardware.

Kits like Cirrus’ are a big step in the right direction. Excited to see what people will build!
