Google has hinted at a release date of Google Home in the UK slated for next week. One question is whether the device will be the same hardware as the original Google Home or whether there will be some updates.

In all likelihood, there may be some board revisions to save on costs or help with manufacturing, but it will probably not significantly affect the operation of the device. The Home will function like the UK version of Google Assistant, understanding better a UK accent and offering a TTS with a similar accent.

The real change to Google Home may come around Google I/O in May — either with the announcement of a new version of the device or maybe new Embedded Google Assistant SDK-enabled devices. This has traditionally been the time for big announcements.
