While I mentioned yesterday that Bixby’s killer app was app search, there are a few things that are missing from Samsung’s arsenal to make it a viable competitor to Siri and Google Assistant. To name a few:

  • Samsung doesn’t have it’s own email service
  • Same when it comes to maps
  • No instant messaging service either

However, Samsung has access to the device sensor data. This is where it can gain the upper hand against others — fusing sensor data to come up with insights. While Samsung Health didn’t seen to offer too much more than a pedometer, maybe this is another area where Samsung could use Bixby to provide a stickier experience for tracking health.
