Marmoset There’ll Be Days Like This
There’ll be days like this, marmoset.
If you haven’t yet seen it, it’s worth checking out the following video parodying the song Mama Said by the Shirelles:
What this song reminds me of are the early days of speech recognition, especially far field voice interaction. When we created the Ubi and launched music support, often the speech recognition was wrong when it came to song titles and artists.
We had also encountered this issue when trying to send messages to contacts. Proper names were extremely difficult to get right. Our workaround was to have someone speak the name of the contact and then use the resulting speech-to-text response the match. For “Leor” (my name) it ended up returning “New York” so we’d put “New York” as an alternative name for me and sure enough it’d catch that name and we’d be able to send emails and text messages.
It’s always good to have a workaround solution, even if it’s not ideally. After all, mama said there’d be days like this… marmoset marmoset.
