Longer Coherence

In the TV series West World, humans reincarnated as robot “hosts” would pass a “fidelity test” to see how much they matched their original humans in thought and behavior. The robots seemed to have problems getting the human reincarnates to not reject their robot forms and eventually, the robots would glitch and stop being functional.

This was an interesting plot device but I started to think about it again when hearing announcements about longer and longer coherent videos being produced through AI generative services like Google’s Imagen. Likely within a year, we’ll start to see YouTube shorts and Facebook Reels, even TikToks, all generated through AI like Imagen.

After some time, these are going to take on even greater length and have more content. Soon, channels using them will climb in subscriber count until they threaten even the largest YouTubers.

The ratchet is there. Better quality tools are coming and those who can benefit from this new technology should be thinking about its applications today.
