There’s going to be much more emphasis on local based processing of data. With concern about streaming of voice data to third parties or the potential eavesdropping, a market will be opening up for devices that have intelligence but are unpenetrable to hackers. These devices can either function without any Internet connection or, even better, have an air gap that separates the microphone from the rest of the processor.

It might actually be a may be a maybe breach or vulnerability that causes the market to shift. HAL and KITT had no Internet behind them… so why can’t some of tomorrow’s devices do this as well?
