Leaving Me Guessing

I see the green pulsing light above the keyboard on my Android phone. It’s the GBoard typing feature and supposedly, it’s listening to me speak. I finish speaking and look at the screen to await my words being revealed in the ap. I wait and wait… nothing.

This occurrence happens often enough that I think it’s more common than working normally. Worse, it just stays listening with no endpoint detection or timeout.

Google, you can do better. Your speech recognition is amazing but this type of failure illustrates Google’s lack of commitment to running on third party hardware. Here’s to hoping that they smarten up!
