Leaning Into It

I’ve been yelling about the coming wave of AI generated content, especially video, and with the many tools that are now available, we’re seeing more ingenious ways it’s being used to create content. Take for example Harry Potter by Balanciaga:

This video is now over a year old and there is at least one generation of tools that have been spawned for voice dubbing, shifting points of view, or adding expression, but it still demonstrates how to use the technology well for now. That is… lean into the weaknesses.

Generative video has weird artifacts, discontinuities, and rigid motion. So does haute couture fashion! So why not combine the two? Whenever looking at new technologies, it’s best to find where they excel and their exploits can be appreciated.

In the movie Deuce Bigalow, Amy Pohler plays a woman named Ruth with Tourette Syndrome. Where does our protagonist, Deuce, take her where this seeming disability becomes a strength? A ball game. There, she’s cheered on.

By finding a small niche for new tech, the use cases can expand and the edges won’t seem so akward compared to the benefits.
