That’s what Alexa wished me yesterday evening when I asked for the time. It was strange. My daughter inquired what Alexa had asked. I let her know. She asked me why it had said that and I thought about it… “It’s to make Alexa sound more real… nicer.”
With tens of millions of units and maybe millions of voice interactions and maybe the same order of magnitude of requests / interactions per day, Amazon might be running hundreds of tests on different modes of interaction with Alexa.
Does it give me a warm and fuzzy to be wished a good weekend by Alexa? Nope. Does it serve as an example to my daughter to be kinder? Potentially. Does it start to blur the lines between AI assistant and humanized assistant? Yes.
