Getting In Early

There are some benefits of being early to something popular. One of them is getting in to the club before they raise the bar on who can join.

You can get lucky in this arena a few times. I’m very lucky to have worked in IOT and voice long before it was popular and even when most people in technology were pessimistic about what would happen.

As popularity rises, the venue no longer recognizes the people in the crowd. “Why are you here? Do we know you? Why should we let you in?” Maybe it starts charging more. In technology, it’s more requirements on partners to be part of the partner program or a larger minimum number of licenses to get access to software.

“You’re too small for us.” But the early bird was there before it mattered.
