Another Two Minute Paper video came out that discussed a new AI experiment that was able to generated the game Minecraft on the fly… at 20 frames per second. This was done recently by Google with the 1990s hit Doom but now with Minecraft, the level of complexity has been increased significantly.

This is now the start of something incredible… AI generated games that can appear instantaneously without needing for game logic to be built. However, like dreams, they (as of today) work with very little object permanence. If you look away and then look back, things will have changed. That will change as new versions come back that can identify objects and hold permanence.

The next generation of AI generation tools will be more about expeirence building, including the construction of immersive environments. While the above Minecraft example is a paper, people are going to first make it more practical and then commercialize. We’ll see prompt-to-experience services by 2026.
