For Quora, the barrier to readership seems like a big issue. Because I'm spammed after reading a story means that I usually end up going Incognito to avoid being target marketed.

LinkedIn also missed an opportunity in the mid 2000s to be the main social network player but making it more difficult to spread. Quora seems to have missed that opportunity.
