OS Updates Make Me Feel Old.

I’m on a boat off the coast and want to take a photo with my phone. Instead of seeing the camera, I get “Android System Update… 77%” and for the next 30 minutes, nada. Not sure how I confirmed installation.

Then what do I get? A completely new look and feel and screen brightness set to minimum (maybe this the same pocket confirmation at work).

I used to LOVE OS updates. Who can remember Start Me Up with Windows 95? It was like a rock show, game release, new movie, festival — all rolled into one. You should read about it here.

Now, I don’t get excited about OS updates. They’re annoying and they shouldn’t really happen. You should just turn on your phone and have everything installed behind the scenes. Maybe the occasional reset, but not a period when the phone is unusable.

At least the Android was less work than iOS.
