Endless Followers
I noticed that my most recent X followers seem to be bots. They all seem to have the same follow / follower ratio, no posts, lots of likes, and one picture that is photorealistic but could be AI-generated.
As AI-generated characters get more realistic with completely genuine and high fidelity images, speech synthesis, and even personalities, they will quickly overwhelm those who are real. It will be nearly effortless and free to scale up character generation.
In addition, these characters will go from being flat honey pots to those who behave much more in line with humans. They won’t be so easy to spot. This is why it’s so important for us to start to adopt today technology to identify them. Otherwise, many of the platforms we enjoy for dialogue and sharing thoughts will become overwhelmed over the coming years.
