Echo Reviews

It’s amazing to see how many reviews the Echo has — probably close to a million if you tally them up through out all the different variants. Of course, that isn’t to say those are unique users of the Echo. It’s likely that someone who owns one is bound to own multiple.

It does have me thinking about what’s the saturation point for smart speakers. Nearly a year ago, VoiceBot published that in the US, adoption hit 34% of US adults owned at least one smart speaker.

And it seems that many of those users are more or less happy with the product. They’re leaving positive reviews. It seems like we’re getting close to a maturity in the market for smart speakers.

The next evolution of interaction is beyond voice. It is much more subtle and predictive, patching together context of the user to come up with better offerings and understand the user better. It might not be a new type of device, but one that works spookily well.

We may then have the expectation that any device released by one of the bigger players always be a 5-star product, working perfectly.
