Echo Dot Time

The new Echo Dot has started to ship, a few weeks in advance of the shipping of the new Google Home product. There are a few accessories that we’ll likely see come out en masse in the coming months for this new version:

1. Speakers designed for the Echo Dot. Some will make the Echo Dot look like a souped up Echo (or exactly like the Echo). Others will have a place to hold the Dot or have channels to hold the wires.
2. Cases for the Dot. Maybe these will make the Dot more suited for the kitchen (or bathroom) with splash resistant covers. Maybe these will also keep wires coming to / from the Dot more organized.
3. Dot holders and mounts. These will be designed to help keep the Dot on the ceiling, walls, or in inconspicuous places. I’m waiting for one that will make a teddy bear look like Iron Man.

There’s going to be a whole after market for the Dot with its success.
