Amazon released Bedrock and Titan, two generative AI services among other services it’s come out with. What’s interesting is that the release is getting very little attention compared to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google Bard. However, it will likely have as much or greater impact than those two services.

The serivces — CodeWisperer, Trainium, Inferentia — together we pre-trained models — can reduce the time to apply new generative AI models at scale, not just for a little chat. Amazon also brings to the table a suite of tools, rather than a smaller set that Bing has launched.

What Amazon doesn’t have (yet) is a fun little demo for people to try similar to Bard or ChatGPT. However, that gap will likely be filled quickly and the extent to which it will be interested are the fetes of knowledge that it will be able to pull off through builds by those who develop on it, not the off the shelf version.

What we can expect from AWS rolling out these tools is that at some point, they will disappear. They will start working in the background, handling interactions and transactions, without us as users being aware. Being boring is what all cool new technology should strive to achieve. “Oh, great! A light switch!” sort of thing.
