One of the new skills we need to adapt to for the new technology that is actually more advanced is to be able to iterate. After nearly three decades of googling, we are a bit lazy and expect a one-shot kills for our searches.

Looking up information and getting things done are not the same.

In generating the image for this article, I asked ChatGPT to iterate four times. In the end, it got close enough. LLMs have limitless patience for us (ok, maybe not Gemini) but we likely don’t have the patience to ask for things to be iterated on over and over again. However, it’s in the iterations where the superpowers of these generative AIs can be unlocked. You can create a masterpiece on the 18th attempt of a prompt incantation that you won’t likely see after a first attempt.

Back in day-to-day reality, having the gall to ask for things to be redone and refined is also a superpower. If you can motivate others to hone their work in a way that they appreciate, then you can help them and yourself, and others, at the same time.
