Digital Picture Frames

In the mid 2000s, digital picture frames had a moment. You could insert an SD card in the back and using the crude OS, select a single or multiple photos, and watch as over weeks or months the brightness faded. The quality was also horrible, but digital photography wasn’t that great then either.

While the digital picture frame market didn’t explode, it didn’t die either.

Digital frames have now evolved into smart displaying, connected, presence-sensing devices. They’re significantly more useful than 15 years ago and look much better.

What experiences with hardware are horrible and frustrating now that will likely change? What’s clunky and awkward to use? These are the areas where we can see smooth and easy use in a decade. It takes that long for something to get good.
