Device Free Moments

I’m excited that I had a device free moment today. Sitting for 30 minutes in a sauna, I didn’t want to stress the limits of my phone. Instead, I had two older devices: a paper book and a mechanical timer.

Sure, the book isn’t as engaging as a video or responding to emails, but it’s a great break from a constant barrage of stimulus. We need it.

Planes used to be a refuge but now with high speed global Internet, involuntarily uncovered areas are decreasing in size. We’ll probably see a surge in more places that make you put away your phone, like float tanks or retreats.
