Boot Times

I remember altering the system registry on my Windows PC to try to reduce startup boot times. It used to take forever to get the PC up and running. Of course, you’d have put your PC to sleep before turning it off by using shutdown.exe. On startup, especially when there wasn’t a login screen, you could go off and make yourself a tea before your computer was up and running.

Nowadays, boot times are fairly quick, mostly thanks to SSDs. These allow for super fast loading of files needed to startup. More so, designers have started to learn that bloatware that effected startup was just not worth it.

One place where I still see a lag in boot time is in infotainment devices. If the car has been off for more than an hour, I’ll come in it might take 20 seconds before it’s up and running. I might be some distance away by that time.

Sure, Android is difficult to pair down but it’s worthwhile to keep on loyal users.
