Betty Crocker Cake Recipe

Thinking about Alexa Skills and Actions on Google (and even apps of iOS or Android), there are certain features that are just better as natively integrated capabilities.

Overall, having to invoke Skills is still a tougher sell, but the capabilities that seem to be better as integrated natively vs third party fall into these categories:

  • Finding things
  • Looking up information
  • Buying things
  • Playing music or video
  • Remembering things (alarms, reminders, to-dos, etc)

If I want to bake a cake, I’d rather say “Alexa, give me a Betty Crocker cake recipe” vs “Alexa, ask Betty Crocker for a cake recipe” or better yet “Alexa, walk me through the directions for a Betty Crocker vanilla cake”.
