Alexa, Can You Stop Listening?

Follow up mode has been great in being able to invoke really quick follow ups to questions. In the right circumstances, it’s like a hot knife through butter. In other circumstances, it can be like a hot knife for eating soup.

“Alexa, how’s the weather?”

“… and tomorrow?”

“… and in Chicago?” (this one fails and starts a new query)

At least the first two provide a good example.

When does it not work?

  1. “Alexa, stop” (and still listening)
  2. When Alexa accidentally triggers and responds during a conversation and then does it again on follow up mode.
  3. You’re listening to a podcast out loud while asking Alexa a question.

It would be great if “stop listening” command could quickly shut down follow up mode.
