False Rejection Is The Worst

You don’t have to be a narcissist to hate being ignored. Everybody hates it. This becomes pretty apparent when someone tries to trigger a muted Echo.
With the Ubi, we kept a mute light on all the time. With the Echo Show, it’s a faint red light.
It was dinner time a week and half ago and I muted the device so we could eat undisturbed. My daughter tried to trigger it over and over and became so frustrated. I had to explain.
In this case, this wasn’t a false rejection but it highlighted to me why devices need to be biased to false triggers over false rejections. With Cloud Verification and other ways of shutting down unintended triggers, “trust but verify” works better than “just say no”.
