The new Echo Show follows you around. This seems like a good evolution of a device that’s used for video conferencing. In fact, it could be a huge boon and a worthwhile standalone device when Amazon starts to support Zoom through the Echo Show.
A dedicated, standalone video conferencing device is something many of us could use nowadays. Some wish list items:
- A camera at eye level to prevent nostril face
- Lighting to improve how people look in the camera
- Facial recognition / face unlock
- Emotion detection and responses built for emotion-based interactions
There is a lot of promise from this device and Amazon is already releasing APIs that can help developers take advantage of new sensors on the Echo Show. Let’s see if they add some of the wish list items to future versions.
