Aggressive Spin Cycle
Commercial laundry services uses laundry extractors. They spin the laundry at high rotations, extracting water to reduce the dry time when the clothes are placed in a dryer. I haven’t found the time to line dry clothing (our family produces lots of dirty clothes, this would be my full time job).
However, ever since seeing once a prototype for drying laundry on the space shuttle, I’ve been curious why this technology hasn’t been adopted on earth. The device used an inflatable balloon inside the device to squeeze the moisture out of the laundry while spinning it.
Checking for the latest technologies in dryers, with the exception of sensors and more connectivity, it seems like what’s making it to market is still based on old tech. With the search for more energy efficient devices that still provide convenience, it would seem this might be an area of opportunity.
