That’s apparently the number of people in the US who have access to a smart speaker, according to VoiceBot.AI. Five years ago, that number was in the hundreds (of Ubi users) and before 2013, zero.

The growth of the technology is incredible. Billions are being spent on voice first products and software and people are finding new ways of interacting with the software.

What will it look like in 5 more years? Probably 2/3rds of the US adult population will have access to a voice first device and we’ll be looking at much more seamless interaction (and setup) between Internet of Things devices and voice first product. New players will emerge on the low end of the market and we’ll see some very compelling applications surface.
